From 7pm – at The Little Theatre (ring the bell at the stage door)

*We do not own nearby car parks. On-street parking available on Hilltown, & nearby Council car parks*

Come along and find out if we’re the society for you. Starting at 7pm, the evening will involve:

  • Watching first half of a rehearsal
  • Meet current members
  • See the building
  • Have a chat and a drink during our coffee break

You will then have the opportunity to join the society, come along to the last couple of rehearsals before our show and then sign up to help during the run of the play. This will give you an insight into what it takes to commit to helping during a show. You will then be eligible to audition or help backstage in our next play. Membership currently costs £35 per year.

What’s it like?

Being a member of an amateur dramatic society can be time intensive, but also hugely rewarding . Whether you are performing onstage, or helping backstage, you have the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends.

We perform four plays a year (usually each play has 5 performances over a 1 week period). We rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings with one work/technical night a week. We also hire out the theatre to other societies and performers which our members provide help and front of house cover for.

Being a member of our Society is about more than performing plays. Our members are involved in all aspects of the theatre, not just performing. We often need help backstage (prompting, lighting, set building, wardrobe etc), or front of house. Owning our own building and hiring it out means we have other responsibilities too, not least maintaining the building so we can continue to entertain for many years to come.

If you are over 18, and would like to join us at Dundee Dramatic Society, please come along to one of our new members nights. You can contact us by email or call 01382 225835 after 7pm on Tuesday or Thursday if you need more information.
